Best Practices
It is recommended to wait a few minutes from the time the mode is changed before resuming operation. This allows the object pool to fully load the configuration. This should also allow the system to fully clear any DTC codes and provide a green bell.
Ensure tip size is selected for an average NCV operation of 70% duty cycle. This will provide the best balance between a large speed range and best control of product. It is also not recommended to apply below a 25% duty cycle with the Hawkeye NCV.
Standard
Hawkeye will control to a target flow rate and a target pressure. This is the normal Hawkeye operating mode and is the most common setting for sprayers.
Standard mode is best for general application and controlling target pressure when operating in a narrow speed range.
This mode may be challenged by chalky or thick chemical mixes and fertilizers. You will need to closely monitor for blockage at the tips and at the strainer.
To prevent misapplication and streaking, NCV operation should be around 70% duty cycle for best flexibility. If the speed range displayed is not ideal for you, you will have to adjust tip size, target pressure, or target rate.
Variable Pressure (VP)
Hawkeye will control to a target flow rate and a target nozzle duty cycle by varying the pressure. This mode is useful for situations where pressure is not a priority. The user will only set a target rate for this mode.
VP mode is best for providing a large operating speed range and targeting 70% NCV duty cycle.
High Flow
This mode allows for both a conventional nozzle and a Hawkeye nozzle to run simultaneously in order to achieve higher flow rates. Stacked nozzles are required for this mode.
Hawkeye with Stacked Nozzles
On/Off
Hawkeye will hold the nozzle control valve at 100% open during application or fully closed when not applying. Air induction tips can be used with this setting.
This mode may be better than Standard Mode for chalky and thick chemicals or fertilizers since NCVs are not pulsing as often.
Bypass (Conventional)
Hawkeye will control to a target flow but the nozzle control valve is disabled. In order to use Bypass, an alternative flow route must be made available at each tip.
Bypass mode will spray out of a conventional tip, keeping the NCV closed. This would be used for very viscous/chalky fluids.
